Noble palace re-run

So yes I went back again within a month and had more mud crab cooked with ginger and shallots (with noodles of course). Like I said- once you try it, you’ll start to get cravings. At least this time we mixed it up a little and also ordered a mud crab in a vermicelli hot pot.

We also got dessert- durian pudding (yellow) and mango pudding (orange) served with carnation evaporated milk. Truely Asian styles. Yum!

Like I said, when I went to Sydney I was going to places faster than I could digest! So unfortunately I didn’t get to eat anything (this time- I will be back!). This gorgeous patisserie is located at the bottom of Bondi Westfield.

So delicious! Waited for a hot one dipped in cinnamon sugar! Mmmmm Chatswood randomly had night markets tonight (that will probably continue on tomorrow). I’ve never had Hungarian sweets before. Had lots of variety there! Malaysian, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Taiwanese and Korean.

Strolling around Port Macquarie in the warm weather what could be better? Strolling around in Port Macquarie with gelato!

They had some unique flavours and they all looked very decadent, which one to choose? (feel free to ask for a sampler before you commit to one flavour)

In the end we chose ‘forrest fruits’, ‘cookies and cream’ and ‘Baileys’. Very tasty!

Rise and Shine


It is not often I’d get up early and meet friends for breakfast on a Monday morning but then again it’s not often (that my friend visits) that I hear that there’s a new venue in Canberra which supposedly has macarons that rival Pierre Herme !

Farmer’s daughter is a modern looking cafe located at the Yarralumla shops where they sport the ‘Campos’ brand of coffee.

I was excited about the food but obviously some people were more excited about the coffee:

My friends were a little underwhelmed by the coffee, one of them who had been to this venue before said that the coffee was better the previous time. Maybe just a bad barista on the day?

Hot Chocolate “African Red”-with the ‘Campos’ coffee logo! How cute! Just like a normal hot chocolate, nothing too special.

Breakfast Platter- A selection of breads and pastries served with cultured butter, preserves and seasonal fruit. 10 points for presentation but nothing too special on the platter.

Hot pot mushroom in a garlic white wine sauce- Very delicious and a nice savoury contrast to the breakfast platter

No wonder the macarons were so delicious! They are made by one of my favourite local brands- ‘dream cuisine patisserie‘ (will definitely blog about them again later!). Although they may seem pricey, it was well worth it (although cheaper if you buy direct from their stall at the Epic Farmer’s markets [Sat] and the Southside Farmer’s market [Sun]). There is apparently more selection usually but that day there was only two and of course I had to get both- lemon ($4) and the truffle macaron ($10). They were to die for and did rival Pierre Herme (and I would know because I’ve eaten his macarons! Oh gosh I hope I find the photos! ).

Maybe the truffle macaron wasn’t worth $10 (but you gotta try these things at least once) but it was still nice- an earthy hazelnut flavour. The lemon one was very surprisingly tasty, it tasted exactly like a delicious lemon tart which is amazing given it’s size and texture.

A photo from a friend who just rubbed it in that she went again without me . I highly recommend the ‘salted caramel‘ as well as the ‘raspberry‘ macaron. DELICIOUS!

She also grabbed a very fancy sandwich (with a very big price tag of $14) while she was there.

Overall a very cute space to meet up with friends for a coffee and some very nice sweets. I would love to go again and hope it does well as it shares the Yarralumla shops with two other bakeries/cafes.

Food and the City

Although I’ve been to Sydney countless times, this is the first time I’ve visited as a blogger and WOW there is just so much to see and do (and eat!). I’ve been here for just over 24 hrs and I’ve taken more photos than I usually do in a fortnight!

Bare with me as I was already eating faster than I can blog, now I’m going to restaurants/cafes/dessert places faster than I can digest! For now, just enjoy this gorgeous ‘Opera gateaux‘ from the David Jones food hall in Bondi.
