My friend and I had hankering for a steak before watching our movie. Steak in the city, hmm where to go? Someone had mention to me before that they had a decent steak at The Grill inside the Canberra Casino. So across the city through the cold we went!
Garlic bread ($6.00)
Rump steak (300g) Tender rump steak cooked to your liking, accompanied with chat potatoes and fresh steamed vegetables with pepper sauce ($27.00)
Eye fillet steak (200g) Eye fillet topped with succulent char grilled king prawns and served with baby spinach, creamy potato mash and roast vegetables with red wine jus ($34.00). A nice decent steak, I’ve paid a lot more for a lot worse! I thought the pumpkin was really odd as it had next to no flavour. A special mention to the yummy mash potato as it was served really nice and hot.
Layered chocolate cake with hazelnut mousse and ganache. Moist and not overly sweet with a nice hazelnut flavour.
Creme brulee with mixed berries. I thought it was odd that it was served with palmiers that had no sugar, I didn’t know if it was just added to hide the crack in the custard? The custard was very very smooth with a subtle vanilla taste.
The restaurant wasn’t overly busy and I’m sure that not many people are aware that there is a restaurant inside the actual casino area, but that didn’t let the staff to slack off as they were very attentive and polite.
Although I had a pleasant meal, I am not overly excited to return to The Grill, the menu is limited and I’ve tried it once already.
