I had never heard of Caloundra but if we were going drop by and I only had one chance to eat there, where would I go? According to Urbanspoon – Milano’s Gelateria is where it’s at. Their shop front is adorned with prestigious awards and I couldn’t wait to see what the fuss was about.
They have a no taste tester policy so what you choose is what you’re stuck with. Despite my plea for specific flavours, Tim chose what he wanted.
Medium sized cups ($5.50 each)
Lemon and raspberry sorbet (left) and mint, creme caramel and nutella on the right. The sorbets were particularly refreshing and had an intense flavour while the gelato was very smooth and creamy.
I chose a frozen dessert which appeared to be a profiterole on top on some gelato. The flavours of the gelato stood well on it’s own, it didn’t need to be encased in stale choux pastry, best stick with gelato in a cup.
With so many scenic beaches around the area, Milano’s Gelateria is well suited to it’s surroundings with many sunny hot days and hungry mouths to feed. Definitely worth coming to.
